We have stayed at MANY RIU properties around the world and were excited to try this one out. I will say that the grounds are stunning and ALL staff members are extremely polite. Didn’t meet anyone who wasn’t willing to help out or chat with you. However, upon entering our room we were shocked to see that the rooms needed A LOT of upgrades. The color scheme is off entirely (haha) but the wood was all painted white and just looked cheap. There is definitely a smell in the rooms…we had to be moved from the first one because it was so bad. We assumed it was from the humidity. Second room was a tad bit better in terms of the smells. As for the food, it wasn’t terrible but we were very disappointed that many days they were out of certain items. I for one, really enjoy fresh salmon for breakfast and I think it was only available for 3 of the 7 days we were there. I never found it after that. We ate at the Japanese restaurant one night and we fell in love with the tuna! We decided to go there again as our final dinner and soak in the tuna one last time but lo and behold, they were OUT OF IT. Again, a huge disappointment. Get to the restaurants early…especially the steak house and Japanese ones. Lines get very long and if you don’t make the first searing , they’ll give you a pager to come back for the second seating. Absolutely fell in love with Costa Rica. It is a beautiful country with lots to do. We will be back to CR but more than likely will not return to this RIU.

Hello, I am writing this complaint regarding my stay at RIU Palace in Costa Rica. I have been to several RIU resorts and this has by far been the worst experience. Normally when entering the resort we get greeted by staff by saying hello with a drink. This was not the case for this resort. The room had a horrible smell to it. It was so hard to sleep and get comfortable because we had no ac for 3 days which is just ridiculous. I have never been so uncomfortable and frustrated. There was supposed to be an all white party and it was canceled without it being announced. Me and seven other friends got all dressed in white with excitement just to be told it was canceled due to renovations. So we thought ok maybe we can head to the club in the resort and that was closed as well. We booked this resort specifically for these special events. For us to be blind sided was disappointing. There was plenty of space on the resort with two stages. Something could’ve been done to make up for the events that were canceled. There was no 24 hour bars like all the other resorts we have been to. After the swim up bar being closed at 6 there is absolutely nothing to look forward to. Not only did I feel I was forced to just stay in my room because they shut all the lights out at night in the lobby. My tv in my room didn’t work. With my experience I will most likely never visit a RIU resort again. Something need to happen a refund of some sort because this by far was the worst trip.

Lo que más me gustó fue la comida y la playa. La playa es preciosa y muy tranquila. La comida por otro lado fue deliciosa y muy variada.
El sistema que tienen para alcanzar lugar en la cena es terrible. Pierdes 30-45 minutos formado en la fila para que puedas comer en un restaurante de 10 mesas y la verdad la gente aparta para grupos grandes y no queda otra opción más que regresar al siguiente día. Tampoco me gustó la decoración del hotel, sentí que estaba muy anticuada y no me sentía en un lugar premium o 5 estrellas. La atención podría mejorar desde el momento en el que llegas no hay nadie que te reciba o te explique nada y en los restaurantes a pesar de que era rica la comida, la atención no fue la mejor.
